Valve is not currently working on Half-Life 3. This statement deserves clarity.
With the success of Half-Life 2, many people have been wondering, and for many years now, if Half-Life 3 is still in development. After all, why wouldn’t Valve continue on their path to success by adding a third opus to their iconic saga? At least that’s what most fans might think, but unfortunately it does n’t look like the studio is working on the game.
Valve is not currently working on Half-Life 3
At least that’s what Valve News Network’s Tyler McVicker announces in a new video. The man claims that Half-Life 3 is not currently in development. According to Tyler McVicker, “No, there is currently no development team working on anything other than a few software products specifically designed for the hardware.”
And add: “Valve is currently trying to launch its Steam Deck, and as many people have little noticed, Steam Deck is doing much better than we expected, which is why Valve is fully investing in this project.”
It has the merit of clarity
For years, both the general public and the trade press have tried to find clues that could suggest that Half-Life 3 is in development, but nothing concrete has come to light to date. This report finally confirms a little more the fact that Valve does not seem to want to develop a third opus for their saga. And to be honest, the company’s efforts in recent years have largely moved away from game development.
While the American company still offers games like Dota 2, we haven’t seen anything new in a very long time. The company is focused on its Steam platform and hardware products like the Vive VR headset and, as it puts it, Steam Deck. Will Half-Life 3 ever come out? Hard to say. One thing’s for sure, it’s not now.
