VanishBar allows iPhone users on iOS 15.0-16.1.2 to hide the status bar using MacDirtyCow

Have you ever wanted to hide your iPhone’s status bar but couldn’t because you weren’t hacked? If you answered yes to this question, then you are in luck.

VanishBar is a new MacDirtyCow add-on from iOS developer haxi0 for iPhones running iOS 15.0-16.1.2 that can hide the status bar from on-demand viewing.

The VanishBar app is available for free on the developer’s GitHub page and can be downloaded to any device with the above firmware versions using AltStore or Sideloady. Once downloaded, users can launch the app and use it to hide the status bar.

According to a comment posted by the developer in the /r/jailbreak release message, it seems that the effects will persist even after a reboot, which is actually quite nifty compared to many other MacDirtyCow add-ons.

The status bar contains valuable information such as time, network connection quality (be it cellular or Wi-Fi), and battery percentage, among other things. Few people I know would rather hide their status bar, unless it interferes with certain app or game interfaces, which can happen sometimes, but some people just like the minimal interface when the status bar is not there.
