Babylon: Damien Chazelle talks about the golden age of Hollywood

The history of Hollywood is told in cinema through Babylon.

Starring comedians Brad Pitt (Rapid Rail), Margot Robbie (Amsterdam) and Diego Calva (Mexico Narcos), Babylon is an original epic set in 1920s Los Angeles when Tinseltown moved from silent movies to talkies. It traces the rise and fall of several characters during a time of rampant decline and depravity in early Hollywood.

Director Damien Chazelle (Whiplash, La La Land, Grand Piano) said:

The basic idea was to just make one big, multi-character epic movie set in the early days of LA and Hollywood, when those two things were becoming what we think of them now. I wanted to capture the size, strength, courage and perfection of this world. It was a real period of the Wild West for these people, for these characters, who went up and down, up, down, up again, down again. What they build turns against them and devours them.

“Limited”version and “large”version for Babylon.
