After some problems and upheavals in production, the filming of the third season of The Witcher has been completed.
Production on the third season of The Witcher for Netflix began last March with Henry Cavill, Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra. It played in locations including Italy, Predjama Castle in Slovenia, Wales, Morocco, the Sahara Desert and Croatia before returning to Longcross Studios in England and surrounding areas in Surrey.

Production was briefly halted last July after Henry Cavill tested positive for COVID-19. However, it quickly recovered, it was supposed to end in September of this month. It’s not the first time The Witcher has been hit by the pandemic, as 2020 also saw production on Season 2 fail, with the release date pushed back to December 2021.
The end of filming The Witcher and Season 3
Bola Ogun, who filmed the last two episodes of season 3, confirmed the end of filming on his Instagram stories. Executive Producer Steve Gaub also confirmed this via Instagram, posting photos from the set. British comedian Henry Cavill had a few words to cast and crew:
What a season it was! I just wanted to thank you all for your determination and dedication during this challenging shoot. I hope you all go on a well-deserved rest.
Season 3 of The Witcher in 2023 on Netflix?
Netflix hasn’t given a release date for The Witcher season 3, but given that a show of this magnitude typically takes six to eight months to post-production, fans can’t expect a new season until April or even May 2023. However, Season 2’s post-production ended in October 2021 and it was released in December… Season 3 will follow the season 2 cliffhanger where the White Flame turned out to be Ciri’s father, Dani, also known as Emhyr Var Emreis. It will also feature the series’ most ambitious episode to date, the Thanedd Coup, which will feature a slew of mages and other notable characters from the franchise.
