Screenwriter Kelly Marcel will direct the third Venom film for Sony Pictures Entertainment.
In addition to writing the story of Venom 3, based on the comics created by David Michelinie and Todd McFarlane, along with British actor Tom Hardy, who plays Eddie Brock on the big screen, Kelly Marcel (Changeling, Cruella, Terra Nova) will succeed Reuben. Fleischer and Andy Serkis as director. Considered one of the creators of the Venom universe, Kelly Marcel has always been on the same wavelength as Tom Hardy when it came to shaping the antihero’s story, and approaching the final chapter, both partners are in tune with the direction they want to take.

Details of the story are yet to be revealed, except that Tom Hardy returned as Venom after the first two films grossed $1.36 billion worldwide. It is not yet known which of the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU) characters will join Tom Hardy. For reference, in the Venom 2 credits scene, when Venom is talking to Eddie Brock about the symbiotes’ knowledge of other universes, a blinding light transports them from the hotel to another room where they watch J. Jonah Jameson speak. The man revealed the identity of Peter Parker on television. Venom then licks the screen while saying “this guy”.
