iPhone 14 Pro Max Video Diary: First Day First Impressions

Our videographer Harris Craycraft (@_craycraft) created the first first impressions video after spending a few hours with his new iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The eight-minute video touches on key features exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro, with the exception of those also available on non-professional models, such as satellite SOS emergency assistance and serious car accident detection.

Harris opens the video introducing us to the hardware, then moves on to software, gestures, and the usual tricks to customize the phone to your liking.

This includes creating lock screens and linking them to different focus modes, customizing the home screen, and so on. It also highlights useful iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max accessories and some of the best iOS 16 tips. Read: 21 Best iOS 16 Features Everyone Should Use.

Features Exclusive to iPhone 14 Pro

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have a few features that non-professional models don’t have. There is, of course, Dynamic Island as a successor to the cutout, which animates and transforms into different shapes as you interact with apps.

On the back, the main camera (formerly a wide-angle camera) now uses an all-new sensor that quadruples the image resolution to 48 megapixels and uses pixel binning to produce 12 megapixel shots with much better low-light sensitivity.

The devices also have Apple’s always-on display, which dims the entire screen instead of your date and clock being set against a black background. It’s not clear how much this feature affects iPhone battery life, but you can turn it off at will to improve battery life. Read: How to manage iPhone always-on display
