Vivo X80 Lite may launch alongside X80 Pro+ in October

Smartphone maker Vivo is due to release the top variant of its flagship X series, the Vivo X80 Pro+, this October. Now, a new report suggests that the series will also add a base variant in the form of the Vivo X80 Lite. Unfortunately, very little is known about this smartphone yet, but given that the supposed launch is still a long way off, we expect to hear more about it in the coming days. According to the report, Vivo has started developing the interface for the X80 Lite, which suggests that more information about the phone will be revealed soon.

Vivo X80 Lite: what it has to offer

The Vivo X80 Lite is speculated to be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, which is Qualcomm’s premium mid-range offering that sits below the flagship Snapdragon 8 series SoCs. The chipset is based on Samsung’s 4nm process and is said to be the successor to the more the old Snapdragon 778G SoC, which was an upper midrange offering but inferior to the Snapdragon 870.

Nothing more is known at this time. Vivo usually uses its flagship series of phones to showcase its flagship features, which in the X series used to be about cameras. For example, in the already launched X80 Pro Vivo offers features such as 360-degree horizon level stabilization and cinematic bokeh for videos. The same is available in the standard X80, but it’s unclear if the same will be implemented in the upcoming X80 Lite as well.

The upcoming X80 Pro+ is expected to offer an upgrade in terms of the chipset used, opting for the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Other upgrades could include the camera department, where reports suggest three 50MP sensors and one 48MP module. While the latter can power the phone’s ultra wide-angle unit, other 50MP sensors can offer wide telephoto levels, among other things.

The X80 Pro already offers 8K video shooting as one of its pro features, and it remains to be seen what trickles down to the lowest variant of the new series – now considered the Vivo X80 Lite. Price could be another factor – Vivo sells the X80 Pro for Rs 79,999 and the standard X80 for Rs 54,999. While the X80 Pro+ will certainly cost more, the X80 Lite could offer users an affordable entry point into the company’s flagship lineup.
