As Sauron’s true identity is revealed, many betrayals and new adventures await fans of The Lord of the Rings in the second season of the television series Rings of Power.
The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power television series executive producer Lindsey Weber for Amazon Prime Video announces the color of the sequel to her film adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien’s fantasy universe:
Season 2 will be fundamentally different in that our main villain is at large and minding his own business. I think in a way it will be darker, more intense, maybe a little scarier. Of course, we find the same tones as in the first season, which seem to us fundamental to the feeling in Middle-earth, but once Sauron is openly in motion and putting his plans into action, things get pretty interesting.
She adds:
There are things that we kept that should have been in the last part of the first season. We felt like it’s too much right now, that we have to integrate them with everything else and keep them, and we’re doing some of those things in the second season. I think it’s really fun to explore them and have a place to do things the way we really wanted to, so we don’t miss anything.
Filming for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power is about to begin
If filming for The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power Season 2 is scheduled to take place in the next few weeks, Lindsey Weber estimates it will be shorter than Season 1 filming:
These early days are kind of a luxury for us, because we’re just getting started and the guys are still writing, you know, polishing the script for the second season, so they’re writing it all. But if you wait a bit, we’ll be scattered around the editing rooms, on different sets and in different places, with different directors and directors, in pre-production and post-production meetings and such, and it’s like looking like an octopus and having tentacles all over the place at once.. I also think that there will be so many new things at the beginning of the first season, and you have to see how your actors will do it, how the material will feel and how it will all be balanced.
