The War of the Rohirrim will be a prequel to The Lord of the Rings.
Kenji Kamiyama (Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Ghost in the Shell: Self Complex) will direct The Lord of the Rings animated film War of the Rohirrim, which will hit theaters on April 12, 2024. Philippa Boyens of the writing team for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies is an executive producer along with Joseph Chow. The team of Phoebe Gittins and Artie Papageorgiou wrote the screenplay based on a screenplay by Jeffrey Addis and Will Matthews. The creative team also includes Richard Taylor and renowned Tolkien illustrator John Howe. Finally, animation work has been underway since last year at Sola Entertainment and a full and exciting cast will be revealed soon.
