Available via a mobile app, the offering already has over 1,400 titles in the collection right now and is being offered in partnership with Indian gaming company Nazara Technologies. Vi Games Store: what it offers
The Vi Games service will offer both games that can be streamed from the store and downloadable games for Android. Vodafone-Idea said the store features 10 game genres available in three tiers: free, gold, and platinum. The same can be obtained with two packs on Vodafone-Idea, with the purchase of the Platinum Pass for 34 cents giving users access to one platinum-rated game in the store, which can be purchased within three days of purchasing the pass itself.
The Gold Pass will cost 73 cents and will be valid for 30 days. At the same time, users can buy 30 games with a gold rating in the Vi Games store. The latter will also be offered as an add-on service to some pay-as-you-go plans, as part of the content bundled services that telcos are offering today. Free games available in the store will be accompanied by ads.
Speaking at the launch, Avnish Khosla, Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone-Idea, said: “We are seeing a significant increase in game consumption, with over 95% of gaming enthusiasts using mobile devices to enjoy a variety of content. The deeper penetration of smartphones and the availability of 4G has led to the explosive growth and adoption of gaming content, making it a popular choice for fun and entertainment.”
“We see gaming as the main focus of our digital content strategy, and we intend to create a comprehensive game that covers most aspects of gaming, with the goal of making Vi the preferred destination for casual and serious gamers alike. Our partnership with Nazara Technologies will enhance the gaming experience we offer our consumers with a wide range of exclusive games available on the Vi app for our users,” added Khosla.
Vodafone-Idea also stated that they plan to expand the Vi Games store to over 2,000 titles in the near future. At the moment the service will be available only to Vodafone-Idea users.
