American director Justin Chong will direct the first episodes of Jason Momoa’s War Chief TV series.
The Chief of War series for the Apple TV+ streaming platform was first announced in early April. Justin Chong (Blue Bayou, Jamojaya) was then in talks to join the cast, and his agreement has now been made official. Jason Momoa is writing the script for Chief of War with Thomas Paa Sibbett. Both will also serve as executive producers, as will Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Eric Holmberg Chung and Doug Yeung. The latter is also expected to serve as showrunner.
Apple TV+ star Jason Momoa
Created by Endeavor Content and Chernin Entertainment, Chief of War will tell the epic story of the unification and settlement of Hawaii from the perspective of the natives. Justin Chong will direct and produce the first two episodes of the television series. This is his latest project with Apple as he directed and produced several episodes of Pachinko. Finally, Chief of War is the second Apple series to feature Jason Momoa. He also stars in See, a film about a post-apocalyptic future in which almost all the remaining people have lost their sight. The second season of the series aired in 2021 and has already been renewed for a third.
