Jailbreak based on Ra1ncloud Fugu15 for arm64e devices on iOS 15.0-15.4.1 has been released, but for now only for developers

Just yesterday we reported on ra1ncloud, a Fugu15 based jailbreak for arm64e devices running iOS 15.0-15.4.1. Although it wasn’t released at the time, that fact seems to have changed overnight.

In a release message posted late last night on /r/jailbreak, GUI developer EmuNew3569 revealed that ra1ncloud is officially available on GitHub.

But before you rush to install ra1ncloud, you should probably know a few things about it.

The first and main comment we have is that the pre-post emphasized “user-friendliness”, and while ra1ncloud’s GUI is definitely simpler and more advanced than Fugu15, we can only describe ra1ncloud as Fugu15 (jailbreak for developers, not for the end user). jailbreak) with a different wrapper.

What do we mean by this? Well… jailbreak doesn’t really offer users anything that Fugu15 hasn’t already had. For example, the GitHub page notes that ra1ncloud does not support tweak injections and probably never will. It also states that the jailbreak is not meant for “end users”, which again suggests that this is a developer-focused jailbreak, but with a prettier user interface.

Some other notes in the GitHub FAQ suggest that the developer has no plans to update the ra1ncloud jailbreak with any improvements and that they are completely done with iOS 15, which may also turn some users off.

From what we can gather, tweak injection has not been included because no one has yet figured out how to implement it. If anyone is experienced enough to understand this, then they are encouraged to contact @iarchiveml or @rebeldisc on Twitter to discuss.

Since ra1ncloud is based on Fugu15, this means it is a semi-untethered jailbreak with a permanent signature. In other words, the app stays signed on your iPhone forever and needs to be used to re-jailbreak your iPhone after every reboot. You won’t need to reconnect to your computer or re-sign the app.

The ra1ncloud jailbreak app can be installed on the iPhone in several ways, including via TrollStore (the easiest way), Safari (using a method similar to the one Linus Henze demonstrated when he announced Fugu15), or via a USB connection (with some commands)..

As you would expect from a modern jailbreak, ra1ncloud uses the Procursus bootloader and installs Sileo as its package manager by default. Of course, without implementing tweaks, you won’t be able to install jailbreak tweaks.

ra1ncloud is currently tested on iPhone XS, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 15.4.1. It has also been tested on an iPhone 13 running iOS 15.1. Other combinations of devices and firmware may also work fine, but have not been officially tested.

Some kernel panics have been known to occur when a hacked ra1ncloud device goes into deep sleep mode or when using Wi-Fi.

We don’t recommend using ra1ncloud unless you’re a developer or an experienced crafter who knows how to troubleshoot and fix problems, but if you’re interested or want to learn more about how it works, you can visit the project. GitHub page to learn more.
