Sony has launched the WH-1000XM5 Wireless Headphones, which is the successor to the popular Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Headphones. The new model offers improved active noise cancellation (ANC), improved and new design, longer battery life, 30mm audio driver tuning and more.
Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones are equipped with two audio processors and support multiple codecs and audio profiles. These headphones are also suitable for long calls and long flights, as Sony says they are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Let’s take a closer look at what the new 1000XM5 has to offer.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Headphones retail for £379 in the UK and $399.99 in the US market. The product is already available for pre-order in both countries. These headphones are available in black and silver. At the moment, there is no word on the launch and availability of the headphones in India, but we expect them to appear in the near future.

In terms of design, these headphones are now more cylindrical and have a thinner headband. The newly implemented ear cups can swivel sideways but cannot fold inward like the latest generation. The key feature here, as always with the XM series headphones, is active noise cancellation. Sony has integrated a new V1 processor which unlocks the QN1 noise canceling HD processor. This combination of eight microphones provides superior noise cancellation performance. There is also an Auto NC optimizer that automatically optimizes based on your wearing conditions and environment. There’s also an Ambient Sound Mode that lets you be aware of your surroundings while you’re listening to music. In addition, the WH-1000XM5 also supports Hi-Res and Hi-Res wireless audio.
Other features include Quick Attention mode, quick access to music with two or three taps, Google Assistant and Alexa voice assistant, Google Fast Pair, multipoint connection, touch control, foldable design, 360-degree realistic sound, Dolby Atmos and 360 Spatial.
