WhatsApp is extending the “Delete for All” expiration date from one hour to 36 hours.

Instead of one hour, WhatsApp’s “Delete for All”feature can now retract a message after more than 24 hours of sending it.

  • You’ll soon have over 24 hours to revoke a message for everyone in the chat, instead of just over an hour like today.
  • The messaging app owned by Meta is testing this feature in version 22.15.0.73 of the beta version of WhatsApp for iPhone, which is available on TestFlight.

WhatsApp extends the “delete for everyone”deadline

WhatsApp is currently testing this feature in the beta version of its app for iOS [ App Store link ] and Android, but it’s not clear when and for that matter if it could roll out to all users. Extending the “delete for all”expiration date will give you the chance to remember a wrongly sent message for much longer than today. As stated in the WhatsApp support doc, you currently only have about an hour after you’ve sent a “Delete for everyone”message.

WABeatInfo reports that some WhatsApp iPhone beta testers can now delete messages for two days and twelve hours (36 hours in total). It’s a significant extension that should come in handy the next day when you wake up hungover and realize you’ve sent a drunk photo to everyone you know.

How to delete whatsapp message for everyone

You can delete a sent message for all header members by long-pressing the text to open the context menu with the “Delete for everyone”option.

  1. Open an individual or group chat in WhatsApp.
  2. Touch and hold the popup message you want to delete, then select Delete from the menu.
  3. Tap the Trash icon in the lower left corner.
  4. Select “Delete for all”from the menu.

When a message has been successfully deleted, chat members will see “This message has been deleted”instead of the deleted message.

When will the new “delete for everyone”time limit launch?

As we mentioned, WhatsApp is currently updating the time limit for deleting messages for everyone for some of its beta testers. Based on the feedback received, the company will either release this feature more widely to beta testers or retire it entirely.

If you don’t see the new time limit yet, please be patient until the feature expands to more people. Keep an eye on this space as we will keep you updated as new information becomes available. Read: How to fix WhatsApp not working
