Xbox: Accessibility settings you should use

The Xbox, like all recent consoles, offers accessibility features. Some can be very useful for everyone. Presentation.

Whenever a company adds accessibility features to its products, the entire user base can benefit. Proof by example: Xbox Series X | S, which has a number of very practical features in its accessibility settings. While these options are primarily aimed at gamers who require a variety of aids while playing, features such as button remapping or night mode can help everyone. Here are some cool features on Microsoft consoles.

night mode

If your console is in a room with little natural light, or if you frequently play games late at night and/or at night, you may want to consider using Xbox Night Mode. This setting reduces blue light emission and therefore requires less eye strain during gameplay. Some studies even claim that blue light interferes with your sleep, which is why people use night mode on their smartphones or tablets.

The downside is that some elements in games become harder to spot. But this feature has plenty of customization options to let you find the right balance.

To use it, press the Xbox button on your controller, then press RB until you reach Profile & System. Select Settings and go to Accessibility > Night Mode.

High contrast mode for better clarity

Some screens may make it difficult to read menu items or other displayed options. If your old monitor or TV shows signs of aging, turn on the high contrast mode on your Xbox, everything will be more visible.

This option can be found in Settings > Accessibility > High Contrast on Xbox.

Remap gamepad buttons

Button remapping lets you change what happens behind the buttons on your Xbox. This feature is very useful for players who have problems with the engine because it allows you to assign specific actions to buttons that are easier to access.

However, this feature is also widely used by players who have their own little habits with the controller. For regular gamers, this is also the best way to continue playing with a controller that has a broken button.

To get started, go to Settings > Accessibility > Controller > Button Mapping.

Disable notification sounds

When you play, your Xbox can send you notifications about incoming messages, unlocked trophies, screenshots, and more. If you don’t like sound alerts, you can disable them without disabling the entire notification system. This way, you won’t miss important notifications and you won’t be disturbed by their sound during the game.

To use this, go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio.

Disable controller vibration

Well-implemented controller vibrations add a level of immersion to your game by making you feel certain aspects more intensely.

However, when they are poorly implemented – or there are too many of them – you lose all the magic. For example, every time you pull off the road in Forza Horizon 4, the controller will vibrate until you get back on the track. It’s not fun and it consumes battery at high speed.

To avoid this, sometimes it’s better to turn off the vibration on the gamepad. To do this, go to Settings > Accessibility > Controller > Vibration and turn off the “Turn on vibration”option.
