Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 12 series last month in China. The Xiaomi 12 series consists of three devices – Xiaomi 12X, Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro. There are various rumors on social media about another device of the Xiaomi 12 series – Xiaomi 12 Ultra.
Now, a new leak from Digital Chat Station on Weibo suggests that Xiaomi has decided not to update the camera setup on the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. This means that the upcoming Ultra flagship phone will feature exactly the same camera as its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.
Recall that Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was released back in March 2021. Mi 11 Ultra sports a triple camera on the back. The main sensor on the 11 Ultra is a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor with a 1/1.12-inch sensor size and f/1.95 aperture. It also features a 48MP ultra wide-angle lens with a 128° field of view and f/2.20 aperture. The Mi 11 Ultra also has a 48MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and 10x hybrid zoom.
Xiaomi 12 Ultra will not have a rear display!
Although the camera setup on the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra is said to be the same as the Xiaomi 11 Ultra, the camera module design will be new. A protective case of the phone was leaked a while back, which was found to contain a different camera module than its predecessor. Also, Xiaomi decided to ditch the rear display on the Mi 11 Ultra successor for some reason. The rear display was one of the unique features of the Mi 11 Ultra.
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is expected to be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. It is expected to come with a 5000mAh battery and support for 120W HyperCharge fast charging. At the moment, little is known about the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra in terms of specifications. However, we can expect the phone to show up on certification websites in the coming weeks.
