The creator of Yu-Gi-Oh, Kazuki Takahashi or his real name Kazuo Takahashi, was found dead at the age of 60 by the Japanese Coast Guard.
Kazuki Takahashi was found off the coast of Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture on the morning of July 6th. He was equipped with scuba gear for scuba diving. The Coast Guard and police are currently investigating the events that led to the death of Yu-Gi-Oh’s creator. A passerby on a boat called the Marines to report the presence of a body floating 300 meters from the shore near the Nago seaside resort.
After creating nearly fifty video game adaptations of the manga and animated series, and being in charge of the production, sales, and competitions of the Yu-Gi-Oh collectible card game, Japanese publisher Konami expressed his condolences on social media: “We are shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Mr. on Kazuki Takahashi. We are deeply grateful to him for the wonderful Yu-Gi-Oh universe he created, and during this difficult time, our thoughts are with his friends and family. Together with his countless fans, we strive to continue the legacy of Yu-Gi-Oh with all the love and attention it deserves. ”
Yu-Gi-Oh, a significant success for Shueisha and Konami
Yu-Gi-Oh manga by Kazuki Takahashi was published in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1996 to 2004. The manga started a successful international franchise that continues today with card games, anime, toys, and new manga series. In July 2015, Takahashi-san received the Comic-Con International Inkpot Award. This award recognizes individuals for outstanding contributions to comics, science fiction and fantasy, film, television, film and music, animation, and fandom. He also drew the Shueisha Publishing House 50th Anniversary Weekly Shonen Jump manga, The Comiq, and co-directed Marvel Comics’ Secret Reverse manga.
