Google is preparing a lot of updates for its Workspace apps, including a redesign with Material Design 3.
Over the next few weeks, Google will be adding a number of new features to its Workspace apps, including a slight refreshing styling change. Mountain View will update the design of Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides in the coming weeks, building on their Material Design 3. Google explains that their new design will make the user interface more consistent and put more emphasis on the most popular tools in each of the applications.

Another very exciting update is coming to Drive in the coming weeks as part of the collaborative Smart Canvas initiative. Google will introduce a toolbar to make it easier to share, upload, move, and delete multiple files at once. Google will also add the ability to filter files by type – Document, Video, PDF, etc. zip – without looking for anything first. Better file management in Drive is always nice.
Documents will also have several new features. Starting today, you can access the stopwatch right in the app, which can be useful if you want to focus on smaller tasks. In the coming weeks, Docs will also welcome emoji reactions to comments, which can be used to highlight a response, for example. The calendar invitation template will also be available in the app soon.

As for Spreadsheets, you can now view the Google Maps link right in the app. Google explains that this will be useful for operations such as logistics tracking or event planning. A feature that can be more interesting in everyday life are date tags. By simply typing @today, @yesterday, @tomorrow, and @date, you can quickly add the corresponding date to a document without checking the calendar. This feature is available to everyone today, with the ability to add stock market and currency values using the @ label followed by the company name, stock abbreviation, or currency.
