Google is reportedly working on a new AI-powered search engine

Google is reportedly working on a new AI-powered search engine. The American giant is betting big on artificial intelligence.

Faced with new competition from Microsoft and OpenAI, Google is reportedly hard at work on a “brand new”artificial intelligence (AI) based search engine. According to The New York Times, the giant will indeed be hard at work building a search service that can anticipate what you want to offer “a much more personalized experience.”There is currently no “clear planning”for the project. However, Mountain View is also developing a set of new AI features for its existing engine, codenamed “Magi”.

Google is reportedly working on a new AI search engine.

Among them is a chatbot that can answer questions from software developers and even generate code snippets. The company has also experimented with a feature that allows users to search for music through a conversation with a chatbot. According to The Times, the company has attracted at least 160 employees to the project.

Other novelties are also “in various stages of promotion.”Specifically, Chrome has a feature called “Searchalong”that allows the chatbot to crawl the web page you’re reading to provide contextual information. “GIFI”and “Tivoli Tutor”, two other experimental features, will allow users to ask Google Image Search to generate images and chat with a chatbot to learn a new language. These features have either already been shown in demos in the past or already exist on other platforms such as Duolingo. For example, image generation is available on slides.

Google also plans to officially announce Magi next month, with other new features coming in the fall. This timing suggests the project could come out during I/O 2023. The company also plans to offer Magi features to one million U.S. resident users, growing to 30 million by the end of this year.

The giant is betting big on artificial intelligence

“We have been working on integrating AI into Google search for many years to not only significantly improve the quality of our results, but also introduce new ways of searching such as Lens and multisearch,” a Google spokesperson said. Engadget. “We have done all this responsibly and usefully, while maintaining the high quality of the information offered. Not all ideas make it to public launch, but as we’ve said, we’re excited to introduce new AI features in search and will share more details soon.”

Given Magi’s importance to Google, Samsung told the giant last month that it was considering making Bing the default search engine on its devices. This statement would set off a wind of “panic”at Google. The research agreement with Samsung will bring the American giant about $3 billion a year. This year, his lucrative research contract with Apple, which is often the subject of official investigations, is also due for renewal.
