The top model Ultra is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2022. Xiaomi has yet to confirm a launch date. Xiaomi 12 Ultra is expected to debut in China in March 2022. Before the company announces official launch details, some key information has surfaced online. The alleged case of Xiaomi’s Ultra smartphone has been leaked on Weibo (via Mukula Sharma). The case shows the design of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra rear camera module. If this is indeed the case of said device, then the device is undergoing a major upgrade in terms of design.

The Mi 11 Ultra featured a triple camera set on a huge camera island at the back. The camera island also housed a secondary display that was good for checking notifications, battery status, snapping a selfie with the rear camera, and more. The alleged 12 Ultra body, on the other hand, has a circular camera module. It has a quad-camera setup on the back with a circular cutout in the center of the circular camera module. This notch will likely have a 50MP/200MP main camera sensor. Xiaomi will also likely include two telephoto sensors in the Ultra model, which may have a periscope. There are a couple more cutouts on the back, but details about them remain unknown. One rumor based submission suggests that Xiaomi may be partnering with legendary camera maker Leica for the Xiaomi 12 series.

We can expect the phone to have a 5000mAh battery and 100W/120W fast charging support. The device will also likely feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC under the hood. More information will appear online in the coming days.
