Xiaomi’s new OLED TV is expected to be launched tomorrow, bringing a new lineup to the company’s OLED offerings. In the Xiaomi OLED TV space, there has been only the Mi TV Lux so far, a $6,000 TV that offers a transparent OLED panel and a 120Hz refresh rate. However, the new OLED Mi TV is expected to be slightly different, and based on teasers released on Chinese social media platforms, the company is likely to focus on gaming as its main selling point for the new lineup.
According to teasers on Weibo, Xiaomi’s OLED TV is expected to be gaming-focused. As a result, the TV is more likely to offer refresh rates above 75Hz. OLED TVs with a 120Hz refresh rate, in addition to providing Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), are expected to be key to allowing users to make the most of next-generation gaming hardware such as the Microsoft Xbox Series X and Sony PlayStation 5. The new TV is also is considered Nvidia G-Sync certified, which means it will likely live up to rumors of a high refresh rate.
Other features that could be part of new OLED TVs include features like HDR playback and certification (which is pretty much expected from any decent OLED TV), ultra-low motion blur for ultra-smooth high frame-rate rendering, and low input lag.. so that the TV can support the high data throughput that the latest generation of consoles can provide. This also suggests HDMI 2.1 support, which means that even if Xiaomi can count on a more mainstream OLED TV, it will still be flagship enough.
It is not yet clear how much the Xiaomi OLED TV will cost and whether it will be introduced to global markets. We’re also not entirely sure what its price will be, but given that such OLED TVs will never be cheap, even with Xiaomi’s record-breaking competitive prices, it’s likely that the new Xiaomi OLED TV will still be priced fairly.
