Therefore, Google introduced the People Card feature in India, which helps users find exactly the person they are looking for.

The Google People Card is a sort of virtual business card that displays basic information about you at the top of Google results. It allows you to add a short bio, your social media profiles, and your short snippet. This feature is currently only available in India, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.

How to create your own people card in Google search

Follow the steps to create your own card to show up in Google search results.

  1. Open the Google app on your smartphone and type “add me to search”.
  2. At the top of the search results, you will find the “Get Started”option, click on it.
  3. It will now ask you to enter basic information such as name, location, information about yourself, job, education, email, website, etc. These are all required fields and you will need to proceed. Be sure to fill them out correctly as Google will show this on your card.
  4. You can also link your social media handles to your card, such as Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, SoundCloud, Instagram, and Pinterest.
  5. After entering your email address and phone number, Google will ask you if you’d like to show it on your card.
  6. After you enter all the required information, you can check the preview to make sure all the information is displayed correctly. After verification, save the map. Your Google employee card will become valid instantly and can be found online if you search for your name and information.

To check your People card in Google search, just type “Add me to search”in your Google account. It will display your personal people card.

How to edit people card in google search

Editing your people card is easier than creating the card itself in Google search. Follow the steps below to edit your map.

  1. Open Google Chrome on your phone, make sure you are signed in with your Google account.
  2. Type “change my people card”into the search menu.
  3. The Edit option is in the top right corner of the card.
  4. You will be able to see all your information and edit it, make edits and preview it.

How to remove a card with people from the search

Google has several conditions in place to ensure that the People card is effective and therefore a great tool for building new networks. Here are a few things to keep in mind when filling out the information in the People Card menu to get the best results.

  1. Make sure that the information you submit must be yours alone. Google may remove your map if it determines that the information you provide on the map does not match the work you actually do.
  2. You should use suggestions for fields like “Hometown”or “Profession”to make your People card more effective. Although you can write any field in the section.
  3. You should regularly update your information in the People card, otherwise it may be considered inactive by Google and removed from the search index.
  4. Your Google People card should correctly describe you and your profession. You can not use fuzzy or other people’s pictures. Other people should be able to recognize you when they see the image on the Google People card.
  5. Your People card must not be related to any form of advertising. Words like “best”or “affordable”can’t be used on a Google People card.
  6. You must not use language that disparages your previous jobs or supervisors. It should not be derogatory or vindictive towards other people or organizations.
  7. The People card should not incite violence or incite hatred. Obscene, vulgar language will not appear on the People card and will be removed from the results.
  8. Your Google People card must respect intellectual property rights as well as privacy rights. You cannot claim a position or business as your own unless you are the owner of said business. Moreover, you cannot upload images that you do not have the right to use or claim.
