The Google Pixel 6a has been in the news for months now. A simplified version of the widely popular Google Pixel 6a is just around the corner. Over the past few weeks, the Pixel 6a has been spotted in the FCC, a retail image has been leaked, the launch schedule has been changed, and the device has even been spotted on the Geekbench website. Now, a new leak has revealed that the Pixel 6a is one step closer to an official launch.
According to leaker Mukul Sharma, the Google Pixel 6a has begun mass production in several Asian countries, and he also says that the launch of the device seems imminent. Google will be hosting its annual Google I/O 2022 developer conference in a couple of days, and the Pixel 6a is rumored to be one of the few hardware announcements at the event. However, there is no confirmation of the same yet.
Serial production of Google Pixel 6a
According to Mukul Sharma’s tweet, the NFC-enabled Google Pixel 6a is now in production, which means it’s another strong indication that the device is almost ready to launch. In response to his original tweet, Mukul said that Asian countries include Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia. But India is not sure yet.
In terms of specs, the Pixel 6a is expected to have a 12.2MP Sony IMX363 main camera, as well as a 12MP Sony IMX396 ultra wide-angle camera on the back. The phone is said to have an 8MP Sony IMX355 selfie camera. It is assumed that the front panel will be equipped with a 6.2-inch OLED display with Full HD + resolution. The phone, like the Pixel 6 series, will run on its own Tensor chipset.
According to the Geekbench listing, it will feature two Arm Cortex-X1 cores clocked at 2.80GHz, two Arm Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.25GHz, and four power-efficient cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The chipset will be paired with a Mali-G78 GPU. Other expected features include 6GB of RAM and Android 12 OS.
