ASUS ROG Phone 6D Ultimate with even better cooling system

ROG Phone 6D Ultimate for the most demanding mobile gamers. Very good cooling and impressive performance.

After the launch of ROG Phone 6 Pro, some fans have been waiting for the Ultimate version. It was two months before ASUS unveiled the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate, a device identical to the 6 Pro but with a space gray color scheme, a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chip (hence the D in the name), LPDDR5X RAM, and the new AeroActive Portal badge. for better heat dissipation.

The AeroActive Portal is a small port that opens up when the AeroActive Cooler 6 is connected so that some of the cool air produced by the fan is at 1000cc. cm per second – is sent through the tunnel to the radiator, and hot air enters from above. The heatsink is connected to large thermal layers covering the circuit and battery cells to transfer heat from the components to the airflow. This makes it possible to maintain high performance for a long time without overheating the device.

ASUS claims that after 60 minutes of testing Perfdog on Genshin Impact at 60Hz in air-cooled mode, ROG Phone 6D reached 36.9°C, 3.4°C lower than ROG Phone 6 in air-cooled mode. This means that the AeroActive Portal seems to be of great importance. Although AeroActive Portal is only enabled when AeroActive Cooler 6 is connected, you can temporarily open it via Settings to clear it. Otherwise, the hole is well closed to keep the IPX4 resistance. There is also a fall detection system to automatically close the opening, and the motor typically lasts over 40,000 cycles – a system that has proven itself with the Flip Camera of Zenfone smartphones -.

The 6D Ultimate offers the same features as the 6 Pro: 6.78″165Hz AMOLED display, 720Hz touch screen sampling rate, up to 512GB RAM, 6000mAh battery, 65W fast charging (42 minutes), Dirac front stereo speakers, ultrasonic AirTriggers. and a customizable ROG Vision color display on the back. We also find the same camera module: a 50MP main lens with a Sony IMX766 sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide sensor and a 5MP macro sensor. On the front is a 12MP lens with a Sony IMX663 sensor.

As for the CPU, ASUS has surprised MediaTek with its Dimensity 9000+ chip, which usually performs better in benchmarks than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip in ROG Phone 6. The Dimensity GPU is 10% more powerful (with the same maximum clock speed of 3.2 GHz), which is more important for mobile games. The processor is also backed by faster LPDDR5X RAM, so it’s limited to 16GB vs 18GB here.

ROG Phone 6D Ultimate will be available in Europe very soon for 1399 euros. Again, this premium model comes with AeroActive Cooler 6. There’s also the ROG Phone 6D, which is essentially a ROG Phone 6 (with an RGB logo on the back) but with a MediaTek chip and LPDDR5X RAM. Count 949€ for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model.
