BioWare announces new information about the development of Dragon Age 4 and the new Mass Effect

Development on Dragon Age 4 is progressing well and could aim for a release in the second half of 2023, but development on the new Mass Effect is still in the prototype stage.

Gary McKay, CEO of BioWare, assures that development of Dragon Age 4 is proceeding without a hitch: “We’re right in the middle of production and it’s a great feeling. Our roadmap was completed last year, so we’re now focused on realizing our vision of creating incredible environments, deep characters, strong gameplay, compelling writing, emotional cinematography – and more. The game plan is well understood and the team is focused.

We have a strong team of industry veterans helping us in and out of production, such as Mac Walters, who most recently led the development of Mass Effect. Legendary Edition, Corrine Bouchet, who led the design of Dragon Age, and Benoît Houle, director of product development. He has extensive knowledge of the franchise, having worked on every Dragon Age game since Dragon Age Origins.

I will also work more closely with the team as production progresses while continuing to lead the studio. Later this year, you will begin to hear about the team working on the new Dragon Age through posts on our blog and social media. As development progresses, we will communicate regularly with players who are part of our Community Council. Passionate fans like you take their feedback seriously. We also listen to each of you as you share your thoughts and experiences, so keep in touch with us! ”

On the other hand, the development of the new Mass Effect is far from progress: “The team, led by Mike Gamble, consists of both experienced developers and very talented new people. All of them are actively prototyping new ideas and experiences. It takes a long time to make next generation AAA games, and we know our fans might want to make them sooner. But our number one priority should be quality, and that takes time to achieve. ”

New start at BioWare…

Like his former colleagues for several months, Christian Daly has decided to leave BioWare as the studio’s current projects are not completed: “Continuing our journey, we would like to say a heartfelt farewell to BioWare’s Christian Daly. He started working with us in 2018 and has been a big influence on our games and our management team, most recently as an Executive Producer on the development of Dragon Age 4. The gaming industry is constantly changing and sometimes people want to try new things – we understand but we will miss him as a friend and as a colleague. “
