BMW iX Flow, a car that changes color at will thanks to electronic ink

The BMW iX Flow is a concept car that can change color using electronic ink.

Choosing a car color can be quite difficult. Beyond simple personal preference, there are a few other things to consider. For example, a black car may not be the best option for countries where the sun shines. On the other hand, more colorful cars are often harder to resell.

That being said, if you really don’t have to decide which color to go for, BMW might have the perfect solution for you. At CES 2022, the German brand introduced the BMW iX Flow. This is a concept car that offers a very amazing feature of electronic body painting (e-ink), which allows you to switch from black to white and vice versa with a simple push of a button.

This is due to the use of electronic ink.

For those who don’t know, e-ink is the technology used in e-books. Unlike more traditional screens, this technology is highly energy efficient, which is the reason BMW chose to use it. According to the German brand, the iX Flow has 500 horsepower with a range of 480 km.

And, according to Stella Clark, Project Manager at BMW iX Flow, “It gives drivers the freedom to express different aspects of their personality or even their joy, change their looks and redefine their desires every time they ride in their car. A bit like fashion or social media status, this car becomes an expression of the different moods and circumstances of everyday life.”
