BMW is imagining a movie screen for entertainment in the back seat of their cars for an unforgettable cinema experience, with a 31-inch 8K screen.
Some modern cars already have rear seat screens. They have been thought and developed to help rear seat passengers have fun while traveling, like kids who love to watch their favorite cartoons and TV shows on long trips. It’s also a pretty useful option for parents to make sure their kids are quiet and don’t do anything in the car. BMW thinks big, very big.
BMW introduces a theater screen for entertainment in the back of its cars
However, these screens are often small, very small. It is for this reason that BMW intends to promote things every other year with what the German brand has called Theater Screen (“Screen Cinema”), no less! This is a 31-inch screen that supports resolutions up to 8K. Thus, the slab in question is almost the entire width of the internal space.
This cinema would actually be almost like a TV and even a Smart TV, since according to BMW it would be equipped with Amazon Fire TV services. In other words, users can take advantage of all the features that are usually associated with the Fire TV platform. This includes movies and TV shows that can be purchased or streamed.
Experience the cinematic experience with a 31-inch 8K screen
According to Frank Weber, Board Member of BMW AG Development, “We develop digital immersive technologies for pure driving pleasure. Cinema mode transforms the rear of the cabin into a private cinema. With a 31-inch screen, 5G connectivity, 8K resolution, surround sound and select streaming programs, it has created an unparalleled experience that sets new standards for in-car entertainment.”
The manufacturer doesn’t specify when such options might be available in its vehicles, but if you’ve always dreamed of being able to enjoy your movies and TV series in ideal conditions, which is a bit like creating a driving theater, that’s it. Perfect.
