Phil Harrison’s cautious departure marks the indecisive end of his tenure at Google.
Unfortunately known in the video game industry for being responsible for the poor launch of the PS3 at Sony Interactive Entertainment, as well as the failure of the Xbox One at Microsoft, Phil Harrison was forced to go downhill with Google Stadia… If service video game streaming seemed promising, in the end it turned into a real fiasco.

Launched in a beta-like state, it has never attracted much attention from gamers. After only fourteen months, the web giant has finally decided to close its own development studios to focus on providing white-label services.
End of the Phil Harrison Era at Google
Google Stadia was finally abandoned at the beginning of the year, which also led to the departure of Phil Harrison. At the time of the shutdown announcement, Google confirmed its intention to refund all Stadia hardware purchases made through the Google Store, as well as all game and add-on purchases made through the Stadia Store. Although the Mountain View firm declined to comment for now, Phil Harrison’s LinkedIn account indicates that he served as Google’s vice president from January 2018 to April 2023.
