A zero-day vulnerability has been discovered in Chrome on macOS, update your browser immediately.

Software flaws are not uncommon, but some are potentially more serious than others. And some of them are detected before they can be used by attackers. All types of applications are interested. One of the most interesting vectors for hackers can be the browser. Today in the Google Chrome news.

Zero-day vulnerability in Chrome on macOS

If you’re using Chrome on macOS, you’d better update your browser as soon as possible. Indeed, according to Google’s report, the latest update contains a fix for a high-severity zero-day vulnerability, a vulnerability that somehow made its way into Mountain View’s stable version of the browser without anyone noticing until today.

Update your browser immediately

The issue in question has been identified as CVE-2022-1096, “type confusion”in the Chrome V8 JavaScript engine. This is an expert computer security researcher who discovered it and alerted Google about it. Unfortunately, at this stage, we know very little about this shortcoming, which, after all, is completely logical, since the Mountain View firm is not interested in disclosing technical details for fear of being exploited by attackers.

However, this information will be made public one day after most users update their browser and are therefore protected from it. However, Google clarifies that access to this data may also be restricted if this bug is later found to exist in third-party libraries that other projects rely on.

Either way, keeping your browser up to date with security patches and other bugs is always a good thing. If you haven’t already, you have a real reason to do so today.
