As you can see from the job posting, Google Cloud has an entire position open for “Product Marketing Director”who will be responsible for raising awareness of Google Cloud’s web3 initiatives as well as driving user demand for all offerings in this area.
In an email to employees just before the launch of the web3 team, Google Cloud VP Amit Zaveri shared his vision for making Google Cloud the first choice for developers when it comes to web3: This is a market that is already showing phenomenal potential, and many customers are asking us to increase our support for web3 and crypto related technologies.”
Key responsibilities for this position, in addition to leading marketing initiatives, include creating annual projects for web3 and reaching out to different audience segments for web3.
The position is limited to New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Sunnyvale. Google is known for creating and destroying many internal initiatives, so to speak, but this time it’s the Mountain View firm’s first attempt at web3.
Google Cloud seems to be clearly making progress in this area.
In an exchange with Cointelegraph during the 2022 World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting, Polkadot (DOT) founder Gavin Wood spoke about the evolution of web3. According to him, web applications don’t need to evolve beyond their current use: “I don’t think web 3 should evolve, in fact, much of what it is, but maybe it will in the future.”Gavin Wood also explained how web3 has moved the discussion beyond bitcoin (BTC), smart contracts and decentralized finance (DeFi) to all the underlying technologies that underpin the crypto world.
