JioPhone 5G due to launch later this year, specifications leaked

After introducing the affordable JioPhone Next last year, it looks like Jio is gearing up for a 5G smartphone. Jio’s upcoming smartphone is dubbed the JioPhone 5G and is due out later this year. While the design details of this upcoming phone remain unknown at this time, we got its specs thanks to a report from Android Central. Let’s see what JioPhone 5G has to offer:

JioPhone 5G Specifications Revealed

According to Android Central, the upcoming JioPhone Next will feature a 6.5-inch display with HD+ resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 processor. The phone will have 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It will also have microSD card support for further storage expansion.

Similar to the JioPhone Next, the JioPhone 5G will boot a customized version of Android 11 out of the box. The phone will have support for Google Assistant, a text-to-speech function, instant translation via Google Lens and Google Translate. The device will also include a suite of Jio digital apps such as MyJio, JioTV, JioCinema, and JioSaavan.

As for the imaging department, the device will be equipped with a dual camera setup that will consist of a 13-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The phone will have an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The device will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery that will support 18W fast charging.

In terms of connectivity, the device will offer Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.1, A-GPS, GLONASS, NavIC, 5G, and dual SIM support. In terms of design, the handset will have a modern design, thin bezels at the top and bottom, a hole-punch cutout and rounded edges.

The Android Central report also reveals that the JioPhone 5G is now in the prototyping phase. The telco is said to be planning to launch multiple WeUs called the JioPhone 5G, and the above specs are for one of the models.

For now, JioPhone 5G pricing and availability information remains a mystery. We will learn more details about the device in the next few months.
