Microsoft Xbox Cloud Gaming: Keyboard and mouse support coming soon

Keyboard and mouse will soon be supported on Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming service. The feature may appear in June.

Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming service recently added Flight Simulator, allowing fans to play this popular flight simulation on Xbox One, smartphones, tablets, and even web browsers via the cloud. But unlike the PC version of the game, you can’t use the traditional keyboard and mouse combination to control the plane. At the same time, according to the head of the Flight Simulator project Jörg Neumann, this should change soon.

Keyboard and mouse will be supported soon on Microsoft Xbox Cloud Gaming Service

In a Q&A session spotted by Windows Central, Jörg Neumann said the Redmond-based firm is currently working on adding platform-level support for the feature, hinting that Xbox Cloud Gaming might therefore take advantage of the opportunity. “The platform team is working on it. I know I can’t give a date because it’s a platform team. I don’t know their dates, but it happens.”And add: “I hope it will be available in June or so, but you can never be sure.”

The feature may arrive in June

A spokesperson for The Verge confirmed that the American giant is indeed working on the feature, but did not provide an availability date: “At launch, Microsoft Flight Simulator supports standard cloud gaming inputs. The team is currently testing the touchscreen/gyroscope and is keen to add a keyboard and mouse when they become available on the platform, but we don’t have specific announcements or timelines to make them available at this time.”

Keyboard and mouse support would be a very useful addition to Xbox Cloud Gaming for several reasons. First, it will allow PC and Mac owners to play games like Halo Infinite without having to buy a controller. They can use the peripherals they already have and use on a daily basis. Second, Microsoft will make it easier to integrate exclusive PC games into its service, such as Age of Empires IV.
