The new Gmail interface will appear on February 8, but initially only for Google Workspace users.
The services and other web applications that we use every day are constantly evolving. Some modifications remain invisible, others are so at first glance. This is the case, of course, when the interface offers a facelift. Very soon, Google Workspace users will be able to enjoy the new Gmail interface.
The new Gmail interface will appear on February 8
The new simplified and integrated Gmail experience will soon be available for testing. Google has indeed decided to offer its new “integrated look”to Workspace users from February 8th. Then it will just be a possibility. In other words, users may decide to stay on the “old”interface. However, the current view will no longer be displayed by default starting in April, and will disappear completely at the end of the second quarter, that is, in June 2022. So users will have to get used to this new “integrated view”.
Q2 2022 will also see a new web-based chat client. The Mountain View firm promised to announce the exact date in the coming months.
First only for Google Workspace users
The integrated view was conceived and designed so that you can easily move between emails, chats and meetings without having to switch between tabs. You can even use a single search across email and conversations. So all this should allow you to be more productive, better focused, while at the same time pushing the interface towards something less “fancy”, so to speak. Not to mention, it’s often more convenient to have everything on one screen.
This new interface also allows Google to respond to its competitors and in particular Microsoft Outlook. In this way, Gmail becomes a more coherent, complete application that will help those who have recently moved to Workspace to forget about Outlook. No one knows when this update will be rolled out, but Google is pretty sure it will remove the current interface in just a few months anyway. To be continued!
