The developers of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl postpone the launch to December 8, 2022

The release date for STALKER 2 has now been pushed back from April 28, 2022 to December 8, 2022. Developer and publisher GSC Game World stated that the 7 additional months of development are critical to realizing STALKER 2’s vision and achieving the game’s desired state.

While it’s a little disappointing to learn that it may be a while before we can play GSC’s next big project, the extra development time can only mean good things for the game. According to GSC, the game is the largest project in the history of the company, which means that it requires extensive testing and polishing.

STALKER 2 is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and it’s no surprise that the studio ideally wants the game to be as subtle and polished as possible.

STALKER 2 release postponed to December 2022

This will also mean that we will see more of STALKER 2 as we get closer to the December release date. So far, from what we’ve seen, the game looks like an incredibly ambitious project from GSC and expands the scope of the franchise far beyond the previous game.

One of the biggest stories associated with STALKER 2 was reports that the game took up up to 180 GB of disk space. While this may just be a storage requirement stated after offsetting planned updates and DLC, it’s still quite a large number.

Since the price of SSDs is not as affordable as hard drives with the same amount of memory, it seems that games will only go up in price. The game is due out on PC and Xbox Series X/S on December 8, 2022. The game will be available on the first day with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
