Microsoft Edge will soon have its own VPN

Microsoft is working on an integrated VPN into its Edge browser, another free solution that could be helpful.

If VPNs are so popular today, it’s because they offer something that’s in high demand today, which is privacy. This means many everyday benefits that everyone enjoys according to their needs. But these are services that are in great demand today. And these are multiplying. Soon the Microsoft Edge browser will have its own, directly integrated.

The Redmond-based firm is working hard to get more and more users to use its Edge browser. Some initiatives have certainly been less well received than others, but the latest innovations could be a very useful addition to the software. In a help page spotted by The Verge, the American giant says it’s working on bringing a free, integrated VPN service called the Edge Secure Network to its browser.

The company explains that the tool allows you to encrypt your internet connection. You can use this feature to protect your data from your ISP. As with most existing VPNs, you will also be able to use the Edge Secure Network to hide your location, allowing you to access services that might otherwise be blocked in the country you live or visit.

That being said, if you have a “big” need for Edge’s built-in VPN, chances are Edge Secure Network can’t replace a reputable paid VPN. Indeed, this feature will limit you to 1 GB of data per month. It should also be noted that you will need a Microsoft account to be able to use the service. Microsoft hasn’t started testing this VPN yet, but when the feature becomes available, you’ll be able to activate it directly from the three-dot icon in Edge. A new option called “Secure Network”will activate the VPN. And once your browsing is over, it will turn off.
