WhatsApp is testing the display of a profile picture in notifications on iOS. To make it easier to see who just sent you a message.
If you are using WhatsApp on your iPhone, you will notice that all notifications that come from the app display the WhatsApp logo. This is unlike other messaging apps that sometimes display the sender’s profile picture of the message. This is especially useful if you want to see at a glance who sent you a message, instead of having to read the contents of a notification and sometimes go so far as to open an app.
WhatsApp is testing the display of a profile picture in notifications on iOS
The good news is that, according to a WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is currently testing the display of a profile picture in notifications on iOS devices. This means that you will soon be able to more easily distinguish who sent you a message by their avatar. This can be especially handy if your smartphone is locked but you still want to know who the message is from. From there, you can decide if you want to reply right away or not.

That said, as WABetaInfo points out, this feature is currently in testing. In other words, not everyone sees this change in notifications. Only a few lucky beta testers were lucky enough to take advantage of this. In fact, if you’re not in the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, you won’t be able to see the profile pictures of those who send you messages.
No one knows exactly when WhatsApp intends to roll out this new feature, but since this new feature has very little impact on the app, it won’t take long. A little more patience – and everyone will be entitled to it!
