Cross-platform games from the American publisher Activision Blizzard, already released in the past, should remain in the future.
As with the Bethesda takeover, gamers are wondering if Microsoft will retain Activision Blizzard’s flagship licenses to exclusively power Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S via Game Pass or cloud gaming. According to Phil Spencer and Bloomberg sources, GAFAM plans to continue releasing some games for PlayStation consoles, but will also offer exclusive content for their machines: “I will just tell players who are having fun on PS5 or PS4 that this is not our intention. to push communities away from these platforms, and we remain committed to that process.»
New Activision Blizzard licenses will be Xbox exclusives
If Microsoft has spent billions to deprive Sony Interactive Entertainment of two important and popular publishers among its audience, then without the financial mane provided by PlayStation gamers for their popular licenses, it will be impossible. So basically you should expect games like Call of Duty, Overwatch or even Diablo to remain cross-platform in the coming years with new licenses being exclusive. This is already the case for Starfield and Redfall on the Bethesda side, while the next The Elder Scrolls should be coming to PS5.
